Guide to the Murals at Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, Singapore
Simryn Gill is an artist who lives and works between Sydney, Australia and Port Dickson, Malaysia.
As part of artist Simryn Gill’s work for the 2006 Singapore Biennale she produced a guide-book to the colonial era murals that decorate the interior of the Tanjong Pagar Railway. Malay-english text describing the history of the murals, and a series of black and white photographs of visitors to the station ran throughout the booklet. Both text and imagery were presented in a straight forward no-fuss composition. It was on sale at the station for $5 and could be purchased for the duration of the biennale.
